Children’s birthday

Invite your friends to an unforgettable birthday among the animals at Naturama. Here you sit at a table among snakes and wandering sticks. Café Foderbrættet provides food and cake for the hungry rangers before we all go on an expedition. On the expedition, an expert expedition leader will take you around the museum, where we will travel to distant regions and meet exotic creatures. During the expedition, you learn what it takes to become a Naturama Ranger. We will go around the exhibitions, and along the way there will be fun tasks and live animals! At the end, there is a surprise for all participating children.

The bird world of Northern Europe

At Naturama's air level, more than 500 birds are gathered in one place. Here you can experience the birds of Northern Europe, ranging from the little bird king to the golden eagle - From 7 grams to 7 kg.

In the exhibition "Northern Europe's mammals" the animals walk the catwalk. All animals that are or have been part of the Danish animal world. Others are about to immigrate.

The old museum

Svendborg Zoological Museum opened in 1935. The focus of the exhibitions was a complete collection of Danish birds. Later, more showcases and many more objects and stuffed animals came to the museum.

The Sei whale

The sei whale is Naturama's largest object with its 16 meters. Impressive and magnificent, the skeleton of the great whale stands today as a natural focal point in the museum's large exhibition space.

The dive of the Nothern Gannet

The diving of the gannets into the sea to catch fish is spectacular. From great heights, the gannets plunge into shoals of fish below sea level.

Naturama is open February 9 - December 31, 2022. Mon-Wed. + Fri.-Sun. from 9 AM - 4 PM. Every Thursday at 9 AM- 7 PM. During holidays we are open at 9 AM - 5 PM.

Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve at 9 AM-1 PM. Christmas Day is closed.

Season card: 34 EUR. Naturama season card also applies to Fjord&Bælt.

How to get here ›

Naturama is located in central Svendborg. By freeway, it is a 30-minute drive from Odense. From the Great Belt Bridge, the drive is approximately 40 minutes. Both the bus and the train station are a 10-minute walk from Naturama.

Naturama is a nature theatre where animals from the sea, land and air are staged with sound, light, beautiful films and stunning pictures. You get up-close to bears, elks, wild boars, hundreds of birds, a giant polar bear and whale skeletons. You can scratch a fox behind its ear, give the small bear a hug, touch various skins and bones, and even dress up in costumes! Naturama offers activities for children and information about the animals, all in English.

Food and beverages can be bought in the Naturama Café Foderbrættet. Packed lunches can also be eaten in house or outdoors.

For the disabled ›

Naturama is designed in such a way that allows visitors in wheelchairs to get around easily. Wheelchairs are available for free. There are handicap toilets on all three levels of the museum.
