Nature speaks a secret language. What does that mean? This means that nature consists of a network of diversity with many unique forms of communication. You may already know some of them. You have probably heard stories about the song of whales, about the scent trails of ants or about the colors of flowers. And what is the common denominator for these?
The secret language. Let’s take the ant as an example: An ant community consists of classes: Winged females (also called queens), winged males, and worker ants, all with different functions for the ant nest. The worker ants are the ones who are responsible for the practical work in the nest. One of the group’s tasks is to track down food and if something is located, the colony must be notified as soon as possible. Scent trails are used here, among other things, and it is super effective, as a short time later a group is ready to bring the food back to the nest. In today’s tour, we focus on exciting forms of communication, just like with ants.
