A warmer planet: Wildlife in Greenland

How do animals in the Arctic adapt to the harsh climate? And what challenges do otherwise well-adapted species face today as a result of climate change?
What adaptations are there in the Arctic fauna? Is it their thick fur? Maybe its color? Which species store extra fat on their bodies to keep warm and which other animals solve the same challenge by having short ears to reduce heat loss? There are many exciting adaptations in the wildlife of Greenland, but how are these same species affected by today’s changing climate?
Several Greenlandic species are under pressure due to the rapidly changing climate conditions. Insect species that are of great importance for pollination of plants are in decline. Larger species are also affected by climate change, the melting ice creates changes in important areas for hunting or results in a lack of breeding grounds. Greenland’s biodiversity is changing, come and hear more about what we can do for today’s presentation.
